At an Extraordinary General Meeting held on Monday in Sydney, the members of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) unanimously approved nine governance changes that are consistent with best practice for boards in Australia. These include changes to length of board tenure and the election and rotation of directors. The aim of having a smaller board that meets more frequently is to ensure the GBCA’s ongoing strength and influence.
At the meeting deputy chair, Daniel Grollo, agreed to take on the role of chair, subject to election at the board meeting after the November AGM; and two GBCA board directors, Michael Barnes, CEO of ISIS Group Australia, and Robert Coombs, president and CEO of InterfaceFLOR Asia Pacific, announced their retirement.
