In addition to being a world-class event for the security industry, Security 2011 will also host the Asia-Pacific finals of the 6th Global Security Challenge (GSC).
The GSC is an international competition that looks for new technologies and innovations that address public security needs across two categories: one for small and medium enterprises, and one for start-ups, concept projects and university research projects.
Created by UK-based OmniCompete and with backing from the US Department of Defense’s Technical Support Working Group, BAE Systems and Nauta Capital, the GSC boasts a total prize pool of US$500,000.
Last year’s winner was Australian company iWebGate, which won with its Ghost Network Platform. The challenge is open to entrants from a wide variety of technological areas, including cyber security, explosive detection, protective equipment, intrusion detection, aviation security, RFID, biotechnologies and much more.
Security 2011 will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from 24–26 August, 2011.
