February 2011 – Ben North, an associate director of the national building services and sustainability consultancy Umow Lai, has transferred from Queensland to the firm’s Sydney office.
A Green Star-accredited professional and mechanical engineer, Ben North’s responsibilities in Sydney will include management and business development. He will also draw on the extensive commercial experience he has gained working in Queensland and in London.
During his 14-year career, North has project managed a range of large multi-disciplinary services in the commercial, institutional and residential sectors. These include Santos Place in Brisbane’s CBD, recently awarded 6 Star Green Star – Office Design v2, by the Green Building Council of Australia.
Among the projects that Umow Lai is currently engaged on in Sydney is the Mabel Fidler Resources Hub at Ravenswood School for Girls in Gordon, Port Macquarie Hospital, Charles Sturt University sites – Goulburn Police Academy and their Bathurst and Wagga Wagga campuses, the Infant Home in Ashfield and the Quay West building at Circular Quay.
