Celebrating sustainability at the 2017 Banksia Awards
The finalists for the 2017 Banksia Sustainability Awards have been announced, a line-up that celebrates 39 award-worthy sustainability ideas.
Entrants were nominated for a range of topics, from socially and environmentally sound furniture as seen at Winya, through to beer produced to environmental and social standards as achieved by Stone & Wood Brewing Co. And making an appearance to disrupt the energy market is Eden, producing world-first nano-filtration devices that provide low cost, off-grid energy solutions.
The prestigious awards are run by the Banksia Foundation, which has been bringing together the most innovative and effective people in sustainability in Australia for 29 years. The Banksia Awards are Australia’s leading sustainability awards and the longest running of its nature in the world.
The Banksia Sustainability Awards is a platform that brings together and celebrates the most innovative, effective and outstanding people contributing to improving Australia’s sustainability and elevates and encourages their ongoing involvement. Since its conception 29 years ago, the Banksia Sustainability Awards have become the most prestigious sustainability awards in Australia, inspiring excellence across all sectors of sustainability.
The winners are announced at the awards night in November – a thriving hub of ideas, excitement and purpose. Additionally, each finalist has the chance to host a presentation and pitch their ideas to the audience at the Finalist Insights event, also held in November. For the sustainability community, attendance at the event presents an opportunity to be inspired by this year’s outstanding sustainability leaders and for interaction and networking with other players in Australia’s sustainability field.
The awards presentation will be held on 1 November 2017 at Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf, 48 Pirrama Road, Sydney. Finalists Insights will also be held on 1 November and will be hosted by EY at, 200 George St, Sydney.
